The system interacts with many external entities. NPOESS Data Exploitation (NDE) is managed by NOAA’s Office of Systems Development (OSD) which is part of the NOAA Satellite and Information Service (NESDIS). You are invited to download the Project Plan for details of the concepts that guide NOAA’s management and control over the project. The NDE Project Manager (Jim.Silva@NOAA.gov) is responsible for all aspects of project performance. The Project Manager reports directly to OSD’s Polar Program Manager, as do the System Architect, the Product Development Manager, and the Systems Integration Coordinator. The project consists of three kinds of activity. (Click on each type of activity to learn more.) Product Development to become better stewards of the environment and maximize societal benefits. The NDE Product Development Manager (Tom.Schott@NOAA.gov) oversees scientific development of algorithms using observations from new instruments on NPP and NPOESS. System Development to reduce time and costs of research-to-operations. The NDE System Architect (Geoffrey.P.Goodrum@NOAA.gov) oversees development of Integrated data management, re-usable product development software tools, testing environments, and of the infrastructure. (The NDE Context Diagram shows the system scope.) User Systems Integration to leverage new technologies to improve information services. NDE’s Systems Integration Coordinator (James.G.Yoe@NOAA.gov) conducts outreach activities to inform users of the potential of NPOESS products and to help them prepare their systems to accept the data.
