SPSRB Policy Memo on Decision Briefs and Product Phases
Technical Assessment Briefing - Template v1
The Technical Assessment Briefing is used by the SPSRB Manager to present the SPSRB with a summary of a
new user request and the technical assessments of the request performed by representatives from The Office
of Satellite Development (OSD), The Office of Satellite Data Processing and Distribution (OSDPD), and The
Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR).
Proposed Product Development Decision Briefing - Template v5.2
The Proposed Product Development Decision Briefing is used by NESDIS personnel to present future product
development proposals to the SPSRB in response to a validated SPSRB user request.
Project Plan Briefing - Template v14.1
After the SPSRB approves a proposal for product development, the project plan is used by NESDIS
personnel to seek funding at the NESDIS Office of Satellite Development’s Polar-Orbiting and
Geostationary Annual Product Review. The Project Plan Briefing documents how NESDIS will develop
and implement a new or enhanced product or service in response to a user request.
Declaring Enhancement Operational Briefing - Template v1
This is a reporting template for product updates or enhancements being promoted into operations.
The OSDPD/SSD Division Chief will use this information to decide whether to promote a product
enhancement into operations. These slides do not have to be briefed to the SPSRB.
Declaring Product Operational Decision Briefing - Template v7.1
The Declaring Product Operational Decision Briefing is used by NESDIS
personnel to recommend to the SPSRB that a new satellite product be
declared operational.
